So it is precisely his Shadow of the Tomb Raider that most often resembles. Of course, Lara is not only moving forward. Sometimes she climbs. Sometimes she swims. But this does not change the general scheme of “push forward to win”, which only occasionally requires additional interventions such as a jump or an ice pick. It makes up a fair amount of the main campaign, as well as much of the side gameplay, offering to run around the map and collect all sorts of things scattered here and there with the obsession of Ubisoft games. Yes, but now the developers have stopped, having made only half of the necessary steps in the chosen direction. Yes, shooting in Shadow of the Tomb Raider is all but nothing – the number of long action sections can be counted on the fingers of one hand. But there are no more puzzles! As before, all interesting and inventive tests for those who like to brainstorm are taken out in separate tombs, of which there are less than a dozen in the game. A few more simpler puzzles are given by the main campaign, but in general, Shadow of the Tomb Raider turned out to be not about tombs, traps and puzzles. Game designers also understand this, for nothing that their solutions do not always work: the same Arkham Knight from the appearance of the Batmobile lost more than he got. As for the authors of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, they tried to refresh the finale of the trilogy about the formation of the new Lara Croft not with new gameplay elements, but with a much more economical technique: changing priorities between existing mechanics. ![]()
